Dragonwatch 5 Return of the Dragon Slayers Review
Dragonwatch 5 Return of the Dragon Slayers opens with the magical world on the brink of collapse. The dragon sanctuaries have fallen and the dragons are beating the giants. Ronodin has taken over the fairy realm, and chaos everywhere is the order of the day.
Seth has finally regained his memories, and unfortunately, that means having to come to grips with his earlier actions, and watching his struggle is both relatable and painful.
If you’re considering the Dragonwatch finale, I am assuming you’re not new to the world of Dragonwatch and Brandon Mull. If you are, I highly recommend starting from the beginning of the series. This book will make a whole lot more sense if you do. You can find my previous Dragonwatch reviews and purchase links here.
While this book very much falls in line with Brandon’s previous books, both Fablehaven and Dragonwatch, it is darker and more violent than the previous tomes. Seth and Kendra are a bit older, having aged throughout the series, and this one may skew a bit more toward the YA reader than the middle grades. This book is also longer than the others, but for those of us who love expert storytelling, that’s ok. It won’t end too quickly. While it’s always hard to say goodbye to our beloved characters from a great series, there’s always hope that Mr. Mull may reprise them in a future adventure.
The action is non-stop, as is the suspense. You’ll be on the edge of your seat until you reach this series’ conclusion. Can Seth and Kendra save the magical world and restore order? You’ll need to read Dragonwatch 5 Return of the Dragon Slayers to find out.
