Happy Fall!!

26 Sep

It’s autumn in New Mexico, so of course that calls for a field trip to find the first signs of the season.  Not too many leaves changing yet, but there is a chill to the air in the mornings and the swamp cooler doesn’t need to run so much anymore.  In fact, we’ve already drained it, but we’re still keeping the fan available for a few more days.  The weather has been just about perfect this week and we’re getting ready for Balloon Fiesta.

But here are few images from this week that signal the start of fall for me.

First Fall Senior Girl

25 Sep

Fall is here and so are the seniors.  The weather is absolutely perfect right now for outdoor portraits and this week was no exception.  We had great fun with this senior from Coronado High.  She brought along her big sister who we photographed a couple of years ago.  It’s always fun to see how well our seniors are doing.

KM04

I love all the colors of early fall and her bright colors really bring out that “pop”.  KM07

These little purple flowers are blooming everywhere right now and what a great contrast they make to her green top and gorgeous skin.

KM13 KM20

She loves the bright colors and they love her right back. KM53

This was a favorite outfit of hers and made her look all soft and pretty.

KM64

And can’t forget her favorite rapper.

You can view more on our Facebook Fan Page here.  And call the studio today at 505-344-3171 for your senior (or family) outdoor session while the weather is still perfect.

Happy Birthday, Brendan!

22 Sep

19 years ago today, my life became immeasurably more interesting with the arrival of our son, Brendan.  It’s hard to believe he’s already 19–some days it’s hard to believe he’s actually managed to survive this long, between all the emergency room trips and crazy boy stunts and driving his mother crazy, of course.BC03 BC47

The last day of summer

21 Sep

Today is the last full day of summer.  Since I had a little free time between appointments today, I decided go out and see what the last full day of summer looks like.  It was a beautiful day, so I headed down to Old Town Albuquerque for a little scenic photography.  Watch for some of these to come up on Sage and Thistle in the next few weeks.

And happy fall.

There’s nothing that says “end of summer” in Albuquerque like the sight of shiny red ristras and the heavenly smell of roasting chiles.

We’ve still got beautiful flowers blooming here.

I love the colors of Old Town.

I love the blend of styles and time periods in Old Town.

These were just too cool to pass up.  And look at all the wonderful texture.

Yes, it really is the end of summer.  The fall colors are coming out all over.

September Special!!

17 Sep

It’s update time in blog land.  You know, you’d think a person with a background in journalism (like me) would be a lot better at keeping this blog updated all the time.  Well, I’m working on it, I really am.  Maybe I should start with the blog updates FIRST, before I do all the other daily writing and then I wouldn’t run out of words and pictures by blog time.

Anyway, enough of that.  We’re having a sale!!  Yep, it’s September and that means it’s time for the September special and you get free session fees (saves you $100!!) and some great deals on our portrait collections, including our new Digital file collections.

This special  is only good through October 15th, so you need to call right away and reserve your session time.  Locations are available all over Albuquerque and Rio Rancho.  You can even do a Balloon Fiesta session if you’re really ambitious–but you have to pay for the tickets.

Call us today and get a jump on your holiday season by taking your portraits now while the weather’s nice and it’s still pretty and everybody isn’t stressed out yet!!

So call today 505-344-3171 and download a printable copy of the special flyer here.

Bio Park Beauty!

04 Sep

I had a great outing yesterday to the Albuquerque Bio Park, where I was privileged to create some great portraits with Heather.  I love shooting at the Bio Park, whether it’s people, flowers, or butterflies and birds.  The setting is gorgeous and yesterday’s weather was perfect.  Here are a few favorites.HE06

Announcing Sage & Thistle!!

01 Sep

After many days and weeks of too much time in front of the computer,  we are thrilled to announce the opening of our new online gallery and web store, Sage and Thistle! I began in the photography world with landscape and art photography and it remains my first love.  I’ve decided it’s finally time to share some of that love with the world.  So, hop on over, take a peek and let me know what you think.  I’ll be adding and updating the store on a regular basis; I have a large stock of great art pieces that I plan to include and tons of ideas for new ones.

By the way, if you use this code:  STwelcome, you can take 10% off your first purchase with us until September 15!

Photos from our California adventure coming soon!!
