And we are so happy to be here!

Rocky Mountain Morning
After a couple of months off to move and get settled, Marie Leslie Photography is officially open for business in beautiful Aurora, Colorado. And we’re celebrating with some great deals this month–read on for details.
It’s been my heart’s desire to live in Colorado since my first visit here 23 years ago (yes, I love you, my New Mexico friends but I am now in the promised land). I came in the fall to meet my husband’s cousins in Grand Junction and his aunt in Nunn and I fell in love both with my in-laws AND with Colorado and time has not diminished my feelings for either in the least.
While I’m excited to explore and get to know lots of new places (must-see/must-do suggestions are ALWAYS welcome), I do already have some favorites.
Rocky Mountain National Park is definitely #1 on my list. I LOVE the mountains. There is nothing like seeing the sunrise from what feels like the top of the world. The other advantage is that Trail Ridge is pretty much deserted at that time of day and I get to enjoy the unspoiled beauty all by myself, with just the Elk and the Marmots for company. They make good company.

And in no particular order. . .
Then there’s Garden of the Gods. As much as I enjoy the drive up Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods is what draws me to the springs. What truly amazing scenery. Being a southwestern girl, I’m always drawn to the red rocks. I love to watch the climbers, though I have absolutely no desire to join them.
Ouray. I’ve only managed to make this drive once, but I WILL be back. What a drive–and what scenery. A photographer’s paradise to be sure.
Dinosaur National Monument. We’ve been here at least half a dozen times over the years. I think the old Dinosaur Quarry building is a work of architectural art. One of the best mornings I spent was watching the sun rise on the banks of the Green River on one of our camping trips here. I love rocks and I love fossils — ‘nough said?

Big Thompson River
Estes Park. I love driving up through Big Thompson Canyon. Even though I now live near Denver, I’ll still choose to drive up to Loveland and head up through the canyon. Besides, if we don’t go that way, how will we get our cherry cider from the Colorado Cherry Company?
Colorado National Monument. What a hidden gem. The Colorado River is beautiful all the way to the Sea of Cortez (well, maybe the Salton Sea is debatable but this is about Colorado). This is just one amazingly picturesque stretch where I’ve watched the sun rise (are you starting to see a pattern here?)
Nunn. Yeah, it’s a tiny little town most Coloradans have never even heard of–and there still isn’t a whole lot there besides the water tower that says, “Watch Nunn Grow”, but we love it just the same. I suppose it’s the draw of family and heritage.

I know there are many more amazing places I haven’t discovered yet–or at least haven’t gotten to–and I’d love to hear your favorites so I can grow my list. Help me out here.
